The referee training will be held on Saturday October 29th , 2022 from 1-4pm.
It will be held at Orchard Hill Church 1465 3 Mile Rd NW Grand Rapids, MI 49544
- Bracket Management – How to understand the bracket format and how to properly recognize and advance the competitors
- In the past as well as recently during this year’s SGOM tournament we awarded gold medals to competitors that actually did not win the bracket and in turn awarded silver or bronze medals to those that did not lose.
- Bracket Management – How to indicate which place each competitor finished.
- Currently there are multiple ways that brackets are being completed to indicate how each competitor finished. Arrows, circles, writing of extra notes have all been used in the past. This has caused confusion for the masters handing out medals and volunteers trying to record the winners.
This training will also be streamed live on zoom for those located out of state.

The next workshop will be on Saturday February 16 at Orchard Hill Church.
It will be from 1-3pm. This will be a great opportunity to prep for the upcoming test.
Afterwards there will be discussions about recent changes with pizza.
There is no cost for this workshop but good will donations will be accepted.
Senior Master Ensing will be leading us through various activities to help ensure we are teaching our students consistently.
